Real Quilters Don't Do Buttonholes - One Day Workshop
It's true. Real quilter's don't do buttonholes or buttons if they can help it. But they do use imaginative closures and embellishments on their garments. Learn how to stamp your style on garments and wearables and discover clever sewing techniques embellishments you can put to use on your wearable art projects. You'll make a half-dozen unique closures (none of them "buttonholes") and make some beautiful one-of-a-kind buttons, too. You bring a sewing machine and basic sewing kit. Basic Garment Workshop - One Day Workshop
If you quit sewing clothes because nothing ever fit these are the workshops for you. We throw out the rules of traditional fitting and sewing and work together to make a garment that fits you. We'll spend the morning concentrating on fast-fitting techniques. Then we'll make a simple garment (not pieced) from a selected Rag Merchant pattern sillouette. Easy garment-construction techniques are included. These workshops give you the itch to sew clothes. Sewing machine know-how required. Materials list provided. Select one garment silhouette for each one-day workshop from the following: Jacket, Vest/Tunic, Big Shirt, Jumper . Maximum class size: 14
Custom Garment Workshops - One or Two Day Workshops
Are your Guild members eager to sew a Rag Merchant pattern under the tutelage of the pattern designer? We will custom tailor a class for your Guild. We'll do a fast fitting with pattern your Guild selects. Then we'll work together through construction to complete the selected garment. Workshop members will have a homework assignment (cutting, piecing, and perhaps machine quilting) to complete before we meet and perhaps some work to do between sessions. Sewing machine know-how required. Materials list provided. Some garments require two working sessions (days). These can be consecutive days (for locations more than 200 miles from Des Moines) or with a break of one to two weeks in between sessions (for locations within 200 miles of Des Moines). At the completion of the workshop you'll be ready for a style show. Maximum class size:14

Travel: Mileage @ current government rate per mile or coach class airfare and related surface travel*
